The Greenbelt Reparations Commission is a 21-person commission selected by Council. We have created three subcommittees: Historical Research, Community Engagement and Education, and Reparations Policy Research.
On August 9, 2021, Mayor Byrd and Greenbelt City Council passed Resolution Number 2094 - a ballot measure to be voted upon by Greenbelt voters on whether to establish a local reparations commission.
We are working diligently to review, discuss, and make recommendations related to reparations for African American and Native American residents of Greenbelt.
